Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, said that governors should mandate masks for the next three months to help save lives in the coronavirus pandemic.
“Every single American should be wearing a mask when they’re outside for the next three months as a minimum. Look, this is America. Be a patriot. Protect your fellow citizens. Step up. Do the right thing,” he said.
Biden also discussed their plan for the pandemic should they be elected in November in a new campaign ad, “To fix the economy, we have to get control over the virus. I’m releasing a plan to save lives in the months ahead. We need to increase federal support for testing, doubling the number of drive-through testing sites. We absolutely need a clear message from the very top of our federal government that everyone needs to wear a mask in public.”
Cases have passed 5 million in the United States and 166,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus.
