Plant Cakes Bake Shop, a vegan bakery and “dessert bar,” is opening in Wake Forest, NC this fall. The shop will feature a diverse menu of sweet options including cakes, baked donuts, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and more—all made from organic ingredients. Once open (and pending the health climate), the business will also offer wedding catering services and double as a special event space. While the bakery buildout is underway, customers can order select treats online for delivery or pickup at The Lemon Tree Cafe located at 112 South White Street in Wake Forest.
Jess Reilly, Plant Cakes Bake Shop general manager, said, “We are excited to expand our operations and open our dream bakery in downtown Wake Forest. We look forward to bringing the community together, from Saturday morning family fun runs [to] holiday cookie decorating parties for the kids and local musician nights. We are thrilled to share our passion for baking healthier sweets with the greater triangle region.”
Plant Cakes Bake Shop will be located at 410 South White Street, Wake Forest, NC in the new PowerHouse Row building. Current orders may be placed through the company’s website at plantcakesbakeshop.com.

This uber creamy 20-minute vegan mac delivers the tang of sharp cheddar from a surprising source—sun-dried tomatoes! A few basil leaves add complexity to the flavors without making it taste “tomato basil-y.” I like to top it with hemp seeds for a little extra texture and nutrition, but that’s totally optional. Use chickpea or lentil pasta to make this mac ‘n cheez super healthy! Add a side of steamed green beans or broccoli for a complete meal.
