Gama, a new Japanese Izakaya-style restaurant, is opening temporarily as a pop-up at 250 N. Main St. in Point Arena, with its grand opening on Friday, Sept. 18 for take-out only, Thursday through Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m.
Chefs Elyse and David Hopps hope to bring some much-needed comfort to the area while their actual restaurant space at the Wildflower Boutique Motel is being finished.
“We just couldn’t wait to start making food for the community,” says Elyse.
Gama will be ramen focused with some small dishes and rice bowls.
Their menu will include: Sunomono, a cucumber salad tossed in seasoned vinegar and toasted sesame seeds; Karaage Chicken, Japanese fried chicken served with kewpie mayo; Paitan Ramen, creamy chicken broth served with poached chicken breast and seasonal veggies; Vegetarian Ramen, shiitake seaweed broth served with seasonal veggies and a soft-cooked egg; and Kamo Don, braised duck served with a soft-cooked egg over rice. Vegan and gluten free options are available.
